Hastings funding bids top £11m as October decisions approach

Hastings residents and organisations have put forward more than £11 million of project ideas in the first round of Pride in Place funding.

A council update published on 9 September confirms that more than 270 applications were received. The amount available in this year’s round is £342,000.

The Hastings Pride in Place Board will assess the proposals, with resident board members helping decide which projects receive support. Funding decisions are expected in October.

The response means many proposals cannot be funded in this round. Independent chair Kevin Boorman says the board wants to explore whether strong unsuccessful applications could be considered in future rounds.

The projects are intended to improve neighbourhoods, community life and public spaces across Hastings. This round has closed; the latest update is about assessing applications rather than inviting new bids.
