£24.3m Hastings Regeneration Programme Set to Go on Show

Residents will get the chance to see how millions of pounds of regeneration funding is being spent across Hastings when a special Town Deal open day takes place next month.

The event will bring together several of the projects being delivered through Hastings' £24.3 million Town Deal programme, which is funding improvements to heritage attractions, public spaces, education and other facilities around the town.

The free open day will be held in the central atrium at Priory Meadow Shopping Centre on Saturday 3 October, between 10am and 4pm.

Among the projects being highlighted will be plans for the West Hill, including the reopening of Hastings Castle and proposals for a new visitor centre incorporating a restaurant, café and events space.

Visitors will also be able to find out more about planned improvements to Hastings town centre through the Public Realm and Green Connections project.

The scheme is expected to change parts of the town centre's streets and public spaces, with public art also forming part of the programme.

Another project on show will be the new Green Automotive Centre of Excellence at East Sussex College's Ore Valley campus, designed to provide training and skills for the changing automotive industry.

Some projects funded through the Town Deal have already been completed, while others are now moving into significant stages of development.

The open day will give residents an opportunity not only to see what is planned, but also to speak directly to the teams responsible for delivering the different projects and ask questions about the work.

Hastings Borough Council says the investment is intended to bring long-term benefits to the town by restoring important heritage sites, improving public areas and creating new opportunities for residents, businesses and visitors.

With several major schemes now beginning to become more visible around Hastings, the October event should provide a clearer picture of what the town could look like as the regeneration programme progresses.

The Hastings Town Deal Open Day takes place at Priory Meadow Shopping Centre on Saturday 3 October from 10am until 4pm. Entry is free and no booking is required.
